Family of Edson^8 Van Vickle

Edson^8 Van Vickle (Aaron^7, Evert^6, Evert^5, Frederick^4, Evert^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes), b. 1843, Hancock County, Illinois.
(It would appear that Van Vickles are descended from a common ancestor, Evert^5 Van Vickle. Since Aaron's age is not known precisely, it is possible that Aaron is a son of Evert^5, however, it is more likely that he is a grandson. There are several possibilities for Aaron's father among the sons of Evert^5 or perhaps a son of Evert not yet identified. Aaron is placed here tentatively in order to provide a logical beginning location that may be supported or refuted by subsequent research and analysis.)

1. Pira^9 Harp Van Vickle, b. March 1875, Wisconsin 9 Nov 08 email from Nanci Millson indicates that Pira's grandmother Mary [Ward] Whiteside married John D. John and Mary [Ward/Whiteside] Harp gave birth to Eliza Harp making Olive Whiteside and Eliza Harp half-sisters. Post to which the deceased belonged, directed the funeral and interment of the remains in the lowertown cemetery. --information supplied in VanVickle Research by Brian Christensen

In History of Crawford and Highland Counties, Wisconsin, 1884 --in Brian Christensen's Van Vickle Research, 1982-2000 Edson W. Van Vickle, a grain buyer, with L. Case & Co. is the son of Aaron Van Vickle and was born at Hancock, Illinois Sept. 23, 1843. In 1850 he moved with his parents to Grant County, Wisconsin. He enlisted from that county August 11, 1862, as a private in Company D, 33rd Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, was promoted to Sergeant, and served until the close of the war. He was with his regiment and company in all the battles and skirmishes participated by them. Mr. Van Vickle was married in Grant County, December 28, 1871 to Olive, daughter of Robert Whiteside. Pira seems to have been named for her maternal grandmother's, mother-in-law, Pira Harp. [That is Pira Harp's son was John D. Harp. John D. Harp married Mary [Ward] Whiteside and gave birth to Olive Whiteside--who had a half-sister, Eliza Harp. Olive Whiteside married Edson Van Vickle and gave birth to Pira Harp Van Vickle.]

9 Nov 08 email from Nanci Millson -- My great grandmother was Eliza Harp, born 1850 in Cassville. She is... [related to] Pira Harp Van Vickle. I have some information on that line, so maybe we can connect some dots.
